FIT BOUTIQUE

National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
My lifelong commitment to fitness has guided me in my career as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. I was involved in sports at a young age. I was a competitive swimmer and volleyball player. With hard work and determination, I received a scholarship to play Division 1 Volleyball at Northeastern University. After taking some time off to raise my daughter I was reminded of the positive effects exercise has on my own physical and psychological well-being, and my appreciation for what our bodies and minds can achieve is ever increasing. I have had the privilege of training clients privately in their own homes and at the Boroughs YMCA. I have enjoyed helping my clients of all ages reach their goals with enthusiasm, knowledge, care and support.
When I was introduced to Fit Boutique I knew it was the perfect place for me to continue my career and to help make a positive difference for the women of the Grafton and surrounding communities. Having the space to train my clients privately in a safe and functional way is a unique experience. I want to share my enthusiasm, encourage a happier lifestyle and help you realize what your body is capable of. I take an integrated approach towards fitness, focusing on balance, core, flexibility, cardiovascular strength and resistance training. I believe that with the right training program, a bit of determination and support anyone can achieve their goals. It is an amazing feeling when I see the excitement on a client’s face once they accomplish something they have never thought was possible.
What is a boutique gym?
Some gyms are massive buildings that try to provide lots of different exercise options for customers, from swimming to spin classes to large weight rooms, circuit training machines and treadmills. So many choices can be overwhelming and actually cause the members to be less productive. Boutique gyms are the opposite, and usually focus on one specific area of fitness. They tend to be smaller and more exclusive than regular gyms, with a cachet to membership and a less anonymous feel to the workout.
Boutique gyms offer smaller group classes or small group training. One of the benefits of a small group training is that the instructor can get to know the participants better. The personal knowledge acquired helps the trainer to recommend specific modifications that benefit the client most, and the small classes can foster a friendlier, more community-like atmosphere.
When you train at Fit Boutique, your one-on-one or partner sessions are completely private. If you are a private person who prefers to eliminate the worry about people watching while you are trying to focus on giving your best, then this is the gym for you.

What is functional training?
Functional exercises tend to be multi-joint, multi-muscle exercises. Instead of only moving the elbows, for example, a functional exercise might involve the elbows, shoulders, spine, hips, knees and ankles. This type of training, properly applied, can make everyday activities easier, reduce your risk of injury and improve your quality of life.
Many functional exercises will engage your core and abdomen. Strengthening these muscles will do wonders for your balance. That can be the difference between pulling a tendon when you slip down the stairs or catching yourself before you fall.
Moving from normal gym machine exercises to functional fitness exercises can be a shock to your body — those functional exercises can be a lot harder! Mixing up your fitness routine with versatile functional fitness exercises not only prevents plateauing but will also condition your body to correctly and safely perform everyday activities.
As you add more functional exercises to your workout, you should see improvements in your ability to perform your everyday activities and, thus, in your quality of life. That's quite a return on your exercise investment.
